Protein Hydrolysates

Hydrolysed proteins are enzymatically treated to break down the proteins into smaller peptides, that are designed to achieve a range of nutritional outcomes from being more easily absorbed by the human body to reducing allergenicity of specific proteins.

Tatua’s hydrolysed protein portfolio includes mild to extensively hydrolysed proteins, that can help support the nutritional needs of consumers across all life-stages.

We provide expertise and infrastructure to support your specialised ingredient needs across multiple market segments: 

INFANT NUTRITION

We offer a range of protein hydrolysates manufactured in a high-care environment to comply with dry-blend quality requirements and meet the highest food safety standards.

Our capability spans from partially hydrolysed proteins, suitable for use in comfort infant formula, to extensively hydrolysed, filtered proteins, for use in reduced allergen or hypoallergenic infant formula.

We have expertise in customising specialty hydrolysate ingredients with targeted molecular weight profiles, mineral compositions and stringent microbiological parameters.

 

MEDICAL NUTRITION AND HEALTHY AGING

Protein hydrolysates are more easily absorbed while maintaining nutritional quality, and can offer functional benefits in formulation such as reduced viscosity to achieve high protein doses per serving.

Tatua’s protein hydrolysate range from mild to extensively hydrolysed proteins, are suitable for use in enteral nutrition formulas, oral nutrition supplements (ONS) and Food for Special Medical Purposes (FSMP) applications.

 

ACTIVE LIFESTYLE NUTRITION

Hydrolysed proteins have improved bio-availability of essential and branched chain amino acids (EAA’s and BCAA’s) to support growth and repair of muscles. 

Tatua’s lightly and moderately hydrolysed proteins offer a mild flavour profile and optimal “pre-digestion” of protein to support active lifestyle nutrition applications such as protein bars and beverages.

 

FUNCTIONAL HEALTH

Enzymatic hydrolysis can be targeted to cleave proteins to generate specific peptide chains with known bioactive properties.  In this way, protein hydrolysates can be manufactured to support health benefits such as; immune support, stress/anxiety reduction, blood sugar regulation, and support of mineral absorption.

An example of this is Tatua’s Casein Phosphopeptide, HCP102, that supports absorption of calcium.

 

Complementary Flavours

Sometimes a combination of flavours can be used to deliver your chosen flavour profile. A Tatua Butter flavour can be used alongside a cheese flavour to add dairy richness when dairy fats are replaced with cost effective fat alternatives.

Tatua Milk and Cream flavours can also be used alongside our cheese flavours to enhance sweet aromatic creamy notes and improve mouthfeel.
